When I've Planned a Plan, I've Planned It.

My sister sent crystal and I this the other day. My 6 year old niece decided to build a fort in their house. She told her mom that she was determined to spend the entire day in her fort. Realizing after a couple hours that she didn’t have her water bottle my sister told her daughter to go upstairs and get it. Her reply. “No mom, when I have planned a plan, I plan it.”

Now obviously her grasp of the English language is not fully developed but perhaps her willpower and determination are well on their way.

We are only a few weeks into 2021 and I am sure many of us are struggling with keeping up with new years resolutions or other commitments to ourselves. We have discussed plenty of tips for success when it comes to achieving our goals; but a day will come when it’s only our, grit, determination and willpower that will keep us committed.

If you have your own kids or are around them for any length of time you quickly realize how bullheaded and stubborn they can be. The tenacity in which they will fight against sleep until they pass out in completely insane positions and locations can make us laugh, cry, and maybe even learn something. How hard are you willing to push for what you want? Will you empty the tank chasing your dreams? Or has the world beat you down where at the first sign of adversity you cave?

Of course I am not advocating reducing ourselves to children, throwing tantrums every time we dont get what we want. We need to be flexible, coachable and know when we are wrong, but lets not forget that grit and tenacious drive kids have, its still in all of us. "When we have planned a plan, we plan it."
